We could not verify that Stellar Diesel is an established strain. We found no breeder, pedigree or published lab data under this name, and the closest matches (Stellar OG, Stellar) are different plants. Earlier claims about its THC, yield and parents were not sourced and have been removed. If you have a jar labelled Stellar Diesel, read its certificate of analysis; for a documented fuel-type strain, Sour Diesel or Chemdawg are better-understood choices.
What we could verify
As of October 2026 we could not find Stellar Diesel in the major strain databases we checked (Leafly and Seedfinder), nor a breeder page, seed listing or published lab analysis under that name No data. Earlier versions of this page gave THC, flowering-time and yield figures and possible parents ("NYC Diesel or Jaws Diesel"); none of these were sourced, and they have been removed.
That does not mean no product called Stellar Diesel exists. Strain names are not registered or protected, so a grower or retailer can give any name to any plant. It does mean that claims about its lineage, THC level, terpenes or effects cannot currently be checked, and this page does not repeat them.
What the name suggests — and why it is not evidence
"Diesel" usually signals a fuel-like aroma and descent from the Chemdawg / Sour Diesel family, whose own origin story is disputed (see the Sour Diesel origin debate). The similarly named strains we did find — such as Stellar OG and Hydroglyphics' Stellar — are different plants, and none is documented as "Stellar Diesel".
Names are a weak guide in general. Genetic studies find that samples sold under the same strain name often differ, while differently named samples can be near-identical [2][3] Strong evidence. Lab analyses of US retail flower show that most products fall into a few broad chemical groups that names and indica/sativa labels track poorly [1][5] Strong evidence.
If you see it on a menu
Judge the specific batch, not the name:
- Ask for the certificate of analysis and read total THC, CBD and the top terpenes for that batch.
- Treat high THC figures with caution: results vary systematically between testing labs [4] Strong evidence.
- Ask who bred or grew it. A named breeder with a published pedigree is a good sign; "exotic" or "boutique" with no source is not.
- If you are new to high-THC flower, start low: acute effects such as anxiety, a racing heart and impaired short-term memory rise with dose [6] Strong evidence.
